How to Apply for a Visit Visa for Bali

Find out how you can apply for a business visa or social visa for Bali while you are outside Indonesia.

Published:

Because of COVID-19, Indonesia imposed travel restrictions where only residents could enter Indonesia. On top of this, Indonesian authorities even paused visa applications from outside of Indonesia for a time. But it is now possible to apply for a visa for Bali again if you meet certain conditions, even if you are not in Indonesia.

Below we detail the steps and requirements to get a business visa or social visa to go to Bali.

Who can apply for a visa for Bali?

To apply for a visit visa for Bali, you must have an Indonesian sponsor. Companies sponsor business visas. For the social visa, the sponsor can be an individual or a company. Additionally, you must be able to provide a bank statement under your name with a balance of at least USD 1,500.

You must also have a reason to travel to Bali and you must indicate this when requesting a recommendation letter:

  • For business visa: business activities such as investment or meetings
  • For social visa: humanitarian, family, or social reasons

Many companies offer visa sponsorships. Note, however, immigration may request information regarding your relationship with your sponsor. As such, you need to be careful when choosing a company to be your visa sponsor.

Emerhub is a consulting company that advises foreigners on investing in Indonesia. We can sponsor your visa as you explore options for doing business in Bali which is a prerequisite for the visa approval. Having a consulting company as your sponsor shows immigration authorities that you intend to do business in Bali.

Frequently Asked Questions about Getting a Visit Visa in Bali

If I have a business visa, do I need to leave Indonesia 60 days after entry?

No, currently, the business visa is single-entry. Leaving Indonesia will cancel the visa.

It is initially valid for 60 days. You can extend the visa by 30 days for up to 4 times. However, while emergency status is still up in Indonesia, you can extend your stay for an unlimited number of times. You must apply for the extension before the initial 60 days ends.

Get in touch with Emerhub and we can help you extend your business visa.

Should I choose a business visa or a social visa?

The visa you choose depends on your specific needs. For business-related reasons like starting a business or investing in real estate, you should apply for a business visa. For social or family-related reasons, apply for a social visa.

Should I choose a business visa, social visa, or a temporary stay permit (KITAS)?

A temporary stay permit (KITAS) grants residency status. Residents can leave and enter Indonesia even if there are travel restrictions. As such, we suggest applying for a KITAS if the option is available to you. Get in touch with our consultants to find out how to apply for a KITAS.
